On a phone or computer
- Search your business name on Google while signed in to the account that manages your listing, or open the Google Business Profile app or page.
- Choose Edit profile, then Hours.
- Find Special hours (sometimes shown as "Add holiday hours" or "Confirm holiday hours").
- Pick the date, then set it as Closed or enter the hours you'll be open that day.
- Save. Repeat for each day that's different.
Google sometimes suggests upcoming holidays for you. You still have to confirm each one, or it will keep showing your regular hours.
Days to think about this season
- Thanksgiving (Thursday, Nov 26, 2026) and the day after
- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
- New Year's Eve and New Year's Day
A few tips
- Set them early. Changes can take a little while to show, and people plan holiday errands days ahead.
- Mark "Closed" on purpose. If you close, say so. Leaving regular hours up sends people to a locked door.
- Match your website and door sign. If Google, your site and your sign disagree, people don't know which to trust.
- Special hours expire by themselves. They only apply to the dates you set, so your regular hours come back without you doing anything.
- Use one update for everyone. A short post on your profile ("Closed Thanksgiving, open Friday 8 to 4") helps people who don't check the hours line.
If the edit won't save or doesn't show
Make sure you're signed in to the account that owns or manages the listing. Some edits go to review first, and you'll see a note saying so. If the listing is unverified, you'll need to finish verification before you can change hours.
