Holiday hours sign maker
Every year somebody drives across town on Thanksgiving morning because Google said a shop was open. Put your holiday hours on the door and on Google the same week, and it won't be one of your customers. Type the days you're changing, print the sign, and copy the text for Google.
Days with different hours
Add a common day, or a blank one:
One letter-size page (8.5 x 11), up to 8 days. It prints fine in black and white. Leave the times blank to write them in by hand.

How to use it
- Add each day your hours change. Tick Closed for days you're shut, or put in the open and close times. The days sort themselves by date.
- Tap Print the sign. In the print screen pick letter size and turn off headers and footers if your browser adds them.
- Tape it inside the front door at eye level, and a second copy by the register if you have one. Put it up at least a week ahead.
- On Google, open your Business Profile, choose Edit profile, then Hours, then Special hours, and add each date from the list above. Special hours only change those dates. Your regular hours stay as they are.
- Paste the post as an update on the same profile, so people who look you up see it before they drive over.
- After the holidays, take the sign down. Google drops special hours on its own once the dates pass.
A few things worth knowing
- Around big holidays Google may show a note that your hours "might differ" if you haven't set special hours. Setting them, even to your normal hours, is how you tell Google you checked.
- Don't put a phone number in the post text. Google's post rules don't allow it, so I take one out if it sneaks in. People can still tap Call on your profile.
- Change your website and any door sticker with hours at the same time, so all three say the same thing.
This page runs in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.
