How to change your business hours on Google

By Sam Miklosko · November 2, 2026

Wrong hours send customers to a locked door. Here's how to change them on your Google listing, and which setting to use for short closures.

Change your regular hours

  1. Sign in to the Google account that manages your listing, then search your business name on Google or open Google Maps.
  2. Choose Edit profile, then Hours.
  3. Make sure it's set to Open with main hours.
  4. For each day, set the times you open and close, or mark the day closed. If you close for lunch, add a second set of hours for that day.
  5. Select Save.

Some edits go to review before they show. If your listing isn't verified yet, finish verification first.

Change hours for a few days

For a holiday, a family event or a short closure, use Special hours instead of changing your regular hours. Special hours only apply to the dates you pick, so your normal week comes back on its own. Google allows special hours for closures of up to 6 days in a row. There are step-by-step instructions in how to update holiday hours on Google.

Closed for a week or longer

If you'll be closed 7 days or more, or you don't know when you'll reopen, Google says to mark the business Temporarily closed instead. When you reopen, switch it back to open with main hours.

Different hours for different services

If your shop has separate hours for things like pickup, delivery or a service department, use More hours for those. Your main hours stay as the hours your door is open.

A few tips

  • Match your website, door sign and voicemail. When they disagree, people don't know which one to trust.
  • Check the hours after you save. Look at your listing on your phone, signed out, a day later.
  • Watch for suggested edits. Google sometimes takes hour changes suggested by the public. If you see hours you didn't set, fix them and check your listing more often.
